I still can't let my family read my writing, yet I have no problem at all posting it on the interwebz. Hmm, dilemma.

I like showing my friends because they are quite familiar and supportive of my work. Plus, our personalities mesh so they get it and usually like it, or are very quick to point out obvious flaws or just plan stupid subject matter that is below me (i.e. overly anime-like).

But I don't like showing strangers and my family because they might not understand my anime origins and the dark feel of my art. It creates a lot of awkward moments whenever I DO show them. I suppose as I get older, and more independent I will be less affected by their judgment.

I also don't like showing my art teachers cause a lot of them don't seem to support anime like I do, so there's that sense of, "awww cute, she doodles" instead of, "well here is a real artist with ambition". Do you get what I mean?

Total Strangers. There's no real vulnerability involved. But I've made the mistake and showed it to both family and someone whom I thought was a friend. Suffice it to say that the alleged friend laughed his head off at me and questioned my ability not just as an artist but as a human being.

Long story short, I'm comfortable being me and continue to make my artwork and that so-called friend, is shallowly trudging thru life pretending to be a nice guy. Ain't it grand?

If I don't ask for your help don't freely give it to me.

I have nothing against the atheist religion - it's the followers who make everything "anti" that make me :puke:
